Responsibility / Duty
The Electronic Resources Librarian manages the Library's electronic and print subscriptions; supervises the Serials department and staff; monitors usage statistics and annual increases for each title in order to make informed recommendations to the Library Director on renewals; updates, maintains, and troubleshoots all electronic resources; communicates with vendors and publishers regarding access, acquisitions and renewals; serves as the library consortia's Electronic Resources Administrator; coordinates the Library's initiatives on affordable learning, OER's (Open Education Resources), web accessibility compliance (WCAG and U.S. law Section 508), scholarly communication, and emerging technologies such as AI; provides liaison duties for collection development and instruction to assigned departments/colleges.

Minimum Experience Required
  • Working knowledge of the management and acquisition of electronic resources and print subscriptions including licensing practices.
  • Working knowledge of the delivery of research assistance and Library instruction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of library patrons, vendors and staff.
  • Supervision experience.
  • Knowledge of trends and issues affecting academic libraries, especially regarding affordable learning, AI, and accessibility.

Minimum Education Required
  • MLIS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited program

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with and knowledge of current best practices in acquisition and management of electronic resources and print serial subscriptions.
  • Experience working with vendors and publishers.
  • Experience managing employees in a library setting.
  • Experience using and publishing OER's.
  • Experience with reference and instruction in a library setting.
  • Working knowledge of Alma and OCLC.
  • Fluency in the applicaiton of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Fluency in the application of AI trends and AI-driven technologies, especially in higher education.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a business discipline or work experience in a business-related field.
